Curing Anxiety and depression begins by understanding how your mind and body work together

Anxiety attacks and depression may feel similar for you and for me, but your emotional triggers will be very different from mine.

Getting to know what makes you worry, or starts your panic or depression is the beginning of your healing process.

News by Jan 2016 about Antidepressants:

Antidepressants are useless for half of the patients who take these drugs, Reuters reports.

Most antidepressants (visit stop-depression-meds.com), including Prozac are widely known and Zoloft, increase the body's serotonin to regulate a person's mood, but it is also responsible for the regulation of various physiological functions, including breathing and heartbeat.

Researchers from the Medical University at Columbia University (Columbia University Medical Center), the United States, conducted an experiment on genetically modified mice and found that those rodents that have increased serotonin receptors in the pineal gland of the brain less susceptible to the effects of other antidepressants. These receptors inhibit the activity of neurons that produce serotonin.

The discovery will help researchers create new kinds of drugs for people who do not help traditional antidepressants.

"Around the World" said that in the United States often prescribe antidepressants other drugs. In 2005, of the 2.4 billion prescriptions 118 million accounted for medicines for depression, while on drugs to help normalize blood pressure - 113 million Consumption of antidepressants and other psychotropic (affecting the biochemical processes in the brain) in the US for drugs. the last decade has increased by almost three times. By the way, the brain can produce antidepressants alone.

We all get anxious

It is our normal emotional and physiological response to what we feel is a threatening situation.
However, we differ as to how threatened or vulnerable we feel in certain situations.

Our personal experiences and acquired belief systems and attitudes about those situations are what make us experience any circumstance in a range from "mild uneasiness" to "worry" or even "severe panic".

Changing your thoughts and beliefs will change the way you feel and react in any given situation.

My beliefs about situations determine how I react in those situations.

I might absolutely love and excitedly anticipate the prospect of giving a speech at my best friend's wedding.
I probably have a history of wonderful experiences of speaking in public.
I believe I speak well, so I feel no anxiety about speaking.

The same opportunity might fill you with feelings of fear, dread, and worry.
Where I might feel light butterflies of excitement before I make my speech, you might experience palpitations, dry throat, sweat profusely, and feel the need to urinate - all the symptoms of panic.

Why?
Anxiousness and panic are a conditioned response to our perception of something. My article about Pavlovs dog will give you the first building block in your understanding of why we can react so differently in similar situations.

Equally important:
Symptoms of certain physiological disorders can mimic the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks.

Its a good idea to have a thorough medical examination including exhaustive blood tests - and probably more importantly, tissue and/or hair analysis (more accurate than blood tests in many cases of heavy metal toxicity) and definitely have your thyroid checked out - if you are feeling the symptoms of anxiety/panic attacks, but can't imagine why.

Read my thyroid information page to understand why I say this.

It's interesting to note that so many people who's anxiety and depression is "illness based" share very similar nutritional and toxic exposure profiles.

Remember: you can overcome Depression, Anxiety and panic attacks.

Having the right knowledge demystifies the conditions and gives you a starting point on your treatment path.

As you explore the site you'll notice that a number of pages that  define various "mental conditions" read rather like a "medical text book".... well that's because they come from one!

I've had to do this to explain the medical labels that have been given to many of the unsupportive emotional states we may find ourselves in. The links I'm referring to are on my Anxiety Disorders page, where I detail the most common disorders.

I'd like to emphasise that I've included those pages purely for the sake of "completeness", and would strongly encourage readers NOT to get bogged down the medical labelling of how they are feeling.

What this site is about is getting to the CAUSE of how you are feeling, physiologically and mentally, and starting your healing process from there.

I do hope that you will spend a bit of time exploring what I think is the really important stuff:

Getting to know your thought processes:
NLP
Managing our physical and emotional "states" (State Management)
Modelling
Managing your physiology:
Brain Chemistry
How Heavy Metals affect us,
The benefits of exercise in depression and anxiety,
Water - why we need lots of it!,
to mention but a few... Explore the site and learn more.
